New Executive Director for the Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless

New Executive Director for the Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless

The Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless are pleased to announce we have hired a new Executive Director, Cheyenne Purrington. Cheyenne will be taking over from Dr. Marissa Muscat on January 2nd, 2020.

Cheyenne has more than 17 years of experience supporting organizations serving vulnerable populations. She has managed affordable, supportive, and transitional housing portfolios, as well as shelter and encampment settings throughout the Bay Area. Most recently, she successfully repositioned the largest homeless-serving supportive housing portfolio in San Francisco and developed a regional strategy for implementing unconventional solutions to homelessness in Santa Clara County.

In her current consulting work, Cheyenne provides strategic leadership to communities focused on ending homelessness. She’s especially interested in forging cross-sector partnerships, piloting alternative housing innovations, and implementing ‘upstream’ interventions to predict and reduce housing instability.

Cheyenne looks forward to joining the tiny-yet-mighty team dedicated to ending homelessness on the South Shore. She appreciates the warm welcome during this chilly time of year!

You can meet Cheyenee and tour this year’s Warm Room located at 989 Third Street during our Open House on Jan 22nd, 4pm-6pm.

During the winter, Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless provides overnight refuge from the elements at the Warm Room. The Warm Room located at 989 Third Street, South Lake Tahoe provides a safe and warm environment for adult men and women who are experiencing homelessness.

In addition to the Warm Room, our staff are available year-round to perform outreach, case management, and Coordinated Entry to ensure that all people experiencing a housing crisis have fair and equal access and are quickly identified, assessed, referred, and connected to housing and assistance based on their strengths and needs.
