Community Resources

Many people do not realize that homelessness is a problem here because it’s often considered an urban problem. Homelessness and poverty look different in Tahoe than it might in other communities. According to the Housing Assistance Council’s report on rural homelessness, homelessness is primarily the result of poverty and a lack of affordable housing. But the underlying causes of homelessness, unemployment, substance abuse, and mental health issues, are challenges that plague every community, including ours.
